Institutions of higher education include just about every type of school or education
facility, which offer post high school instruction. This would include all public
and private colleges and universities, trade schools, technical schools and non-profit
educational institutions. It is unlawful for any state university or college,
state-assisted institution of higher education to discriminate against any individual
on account of any disability, in the admission to any academic program, participation
is institutional activities, awarding of financial aid, admission to housing,
or any other services offered to it’s non-disabled students.
It is important to know that The Ohio Civil Rights Commission has jurisdiction
only over alleged discrimination by such institutions on the basis of disability.
If you believe that your school is discriminating against you because of your
race, color, sex, religion, national origin or ancestry, age or any other reason,
The Ohio Civil Rights Commission has no legal authority to investigate your
claims.
